I'm Valarie Fretwell, and I have the privilege of serving as the school counselor for Butler Avenue Elementary. My main role is to help students with academic, personal/social and career development. I'm here to support all students and families at Butler Avenue. Please feel free to contact me if you need any assistance. Working together, we are ensuring student success!


Mrs. Fretwell's responsibilities Include:

  • Providing individual and small group guidance for all students.
  • Providing monthly classroom guidance lessons.
  • Working with Faculty/Staff & Parents to provide helpful suggestions and support for students needs.
  • Providing Parents with resources and information to benefit the success of their child.
  • Making referrals to outside agencies and services outside the school.
  • Conducting Conferences with Parents/Guardians
  • Consulting with BAS Faculty & Staff
  • Reviewing Student Data
  • Assist with Enrolling/Withdrawing Students
  • Character Education
  • Celebration of Achievement Ceremonies (Quarterly Awards Programs)
  • Student of the Month
  • Dark Horse Leaders Program
