Mission Statement

The mission of Butler Avenue School is to provide a safe and caring environment in which every child is respected and treated with dignity. Within this environment, students will learn and grow as young global citizens as they develop language and problem solving skills. Students at BAS will "LEARN TO READ" to prepare them to "READ TO LEARN" in upper grades!

Principal's Corner

Hello to the BAS Family!

Welcome to another exciting year at Butler Avenue School. We look forward to providing a safe and caring environment that enables all of our students to learn and grow. As our staff works to help develop the language and problem solving skills that will enable our children to become successful in an ever changing global society, we look to you, the Butler Avenue Family and Community to take a positive role in the education of our students.

I ask that you help encourage our youth to "LEARN TO READ" and "READ TO LEARN". Take an active part in their social and intellectual growth. Help model good behavior and motivate them to pay attention to their teachers in class and work hard on their lessons. I can assure you that their teachers will work diligently to provide them with rigorous lessons that will foster growth and achievement.

At the beginning of the year the students will receive an agenda that teachers will help them use to keep track of their lessons. Parents, please review this agenda daily and make sure that your child is always prepared for the day ahead. We will also provide our students with a copy of the Butler Avenue School handbook that will outline the policies, guidelines and procedures that help define a successful student. Take the time to review this document with your child.

Let me thank you in advance for your help. We are all part of the education and success of our children. If you have any questions, concerns, or want to learn how you can become more active in the education of your child or other students at Butler Avenue School, please contact me at 910-592-2629 or via my email address at rturlington@clinton.k12.nc.us.
